Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. joined Manhattan Borough president Gale Brewer and David DeVaughn, City Harvest’s director of policy and community engagement, at the Just Food Conference on Monday, March 13 at Columbia University’s Tisch Food Center to discuss various issues regarding food, hunger, equity and politics.

Diaz touted the importance of NYS becoming a part of a nationwide pilot program allowing Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants to purchase groceries online, an initiative his office helped spearhead.

The borough president also discussed efforts to combat ‘food deserts’, promote healthier dietary choices, build a sustainable food system for New Yorkers and other local food issues.
