Birth Announcement

Anna and Rino Buccofusco of Young Avenue welcome their first grandchild, Massimo Anthony, who was born on Saturday, January 24. Congratulations!

Woodlawn’s Priscilla Coyle and Adrian Gonzalez welcomed their son Gian Carlo Gonzalez to the world on Thursday, March 7. The baby weighed eight pounds, three ounces.

Rotary News

The Rotary Club of the Bronx held regular meetings throughout February and March. At the Tuesday, February 17 meeting, club president Rick Sherman announced that two young children from Kosovo would be arriving soon for medical care. On Tuesday, February 24 the guest speaker was Louisa Boyle, who talked about the Freedom from Fistula Foundation that helps African women with surgery after difficult childbirths. There was a discussion of the club’s upcoming president’s dinner. This year’s honorees will be Stephen Kaufman, a former assemblyman and councilman and well-known attorney; Steven Squitieri, the president of Sanitation Salvage; and John Bonizio, co-owner of Metro Optics.

In Running for

‘Best Pastries’

A Pelham Bay bakery is in the running for ‘Best Pastries’ in a competition called the ‘Best in the Tri-State.’ This is a yearly contest coordinated annually by 77 ABC radio. Zeppieri & Son’s Italian Bakery is the bakery looking to take home honors in that category. Online voting will be ongoing until Friday, April 10. The contest features various categories and businesses from the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area. They also hold an follow-up vote with many of the winners of the first round. The event is supported by four radio stations: 95.5 WPLJ, NASH FM 94.7, 77 WABC, and Radio 103.9.
