Last month, more than 20 specifiers from local leading restoration design firms participated in a hands-on, American Institute of Architects-credited workshop, which was hosted by Cathedral Stone Products, Inc. at West New York Restoration Products of CT, 1800 Boston Road. The half-day workshop, which detailed common problems of aging stone, included an in-depth overview by Cathedral Stone Products’ director of sales Steven Cortazzo, who provided knowledge on masonry, such as emphasizing that restoration is generally less expensive than replacement if at least 50% of the original stone or masonry structure is usable. During the workshop, participants applied Cathedral Stone Products’ restoration mortars to actual stone replicas.
