Friday marks the final day for people to check out this solo exhibition from Bronx-based Puerto Rican and Peruvian multidisciplinary artist and food writer Alexis Marie Montoya. The 16 artworks featured collage imagery from food, fashion and lifestyle magazines in an effort to explore the connection between food, culture and Latinx identity.

CHCF Annual Bronx Block Party

The Committee for Hispanic Children and Families (CHCF) will be holding its annual block party Saturday. This fun, safe and supervised event will have a bouncy castle, face painting, a live DJ, delicious barbeque, popcorn, cotton candy and other carnival-style treats. A variety of local social service organizations, including Catholic Charities Community Services and Anthem BlueCross BlueShield, will be on hand providing information about their services and how they support the community. New York City Council Member Pierina Ana Sanchez, who sponsored the event, as well as State Assemblymember Yudelka Tapia and CHCF President and CEO Ramon Peguero are scheduled to attend.

A Bronx Writers’ History

This exhibit highlights the artwork of Bronx pioneers in graffiti, showcasing their canvases and history. Focusing on the history from 1968-1978, the exhibit traces the early origins of graffiti, as an underground youth movement and through its dramatic emergence in “pieces” on the outside of trains and, eventually, into galleries around the world.
