Two children find their mom, 40, stabbed to death

At around 8 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, 40-year-old Luz Perez was found dead by her two children at 519 E. 187th Street. Perez’s children, a five-year old son and a two-year old daughter, discovered Luz stabbed to death in her bed, before banging on the window of their apartment. A passerby saw them and called 911, before police responded to the scene. The city’s medical examiner’s office will determine the exact cause of Perez’s dead, although crime scene investigators believe that the attacker repeatedly plunged a screwdriver, or a similar object into Luz’s body.
