In celebration of Bronx Week, the Bronx Music Heritage Center hosted an opening reception for ‘Bronx Rising! The Routes of the Black Madonna’ on Saturday, May 19 at 1303 Louis Niñé Boulevard. To celebrate the Black Madonna and her many manifestations, the event featured a reception for Tanya Torres’ exhibited works inspired by Mary Magdalene and a screening of ‘The Voyage of the Black Madonna,’ a documentary about the pilgrimage to the sacred site of the Black Madonna in southern Italy.
