On Tuesday, November 22, the NYC Council Committee on Education held hearings at City Hall on Resolution No. 451 which calls upon the NYC Department of Education to mandate school uniforms.

More than 65 youngsters from six different schools across the city were in attendance to testify and discuss the financial benefits of buying school uniforms versus trendy clothes and uniform’s professional appearance, security aspects and elimination of distractions.

Sponsored by Councilman Andy King, the resolution requires the NYC school district adopt a code of conduct such as standards for appropriate and acceptable dress on school property and at school functions.
