Students, parents, teachers and residents rallied on Thursday, April 11 at the corner of Hunts Point Avenue and Faile Street to demand street safety in Hunts Point. The campaign goal is to have commitment to address the following request from NYC Department of Transportation and any other relevant corresponding offices: an overall increase in signage in the area, a traffic light at Tiffany Street and Spofford Avenue, a traffic light at Hunts Point Avenue and Faile Street, a traffic light at Lafayette and Bryant avenues, a stop sign at Faile Street and Lafayette Avenue, reroute trucks heading to the Hunts Point Market to ensure they drive through the perimeter through Garrison and alongside the factories and do not enter the streets where schools are located and for signs to reduce speed in the school areas and an installation of speeding cameras to enforce these signs.

Bronx Power director Angelica Otero spoke to the press.
