The Independent Commission on NYC Criminal Justice System and Incarceration Reform held a roundtable discussion on Wednesday, March 1 at the Andrew Freedman Home.

The commission is studying Rikers Island and the overall criminal justice system in NYC to establish a new blueprint for an improved system.

The discussion provided commission members an opportunity to listen and meet with residents in an effort to incorporate as many perspectives as possible in its final recommendations for addressing the most striking challenges facing NYC’s jail system.
