A new pharmacy and mini-market hybrid recently opened on the Boston Road stretch.

Nick’s Drugs, located at 3060 Boston Road, recently opened its doors to the public, giving the community a mom-and-pop store where they can purchase their drug prescriptions in the same place that they can do their food shopping.

The store, which opened in June, but held its official grand opening earlier this month, gives its customers nearly unlimited options when it comes to shopping – providing a deli area, packaged goods (including pet food), bathroom, cleaning and surgical supplies as well as housewares.

The deli area of the store includes a UPS drop off station and also sells a variety of NYS lottery tickets.

The most important part of the store – the pharmacy, is headed by registered pharmacist Natwar Gevaria.

The pharmacy compounds its own drugs, a rarity for most pharmacies in the Bronx. Most insurances and over-the-counter cards are accepted.

Store hours for Nick’s Drugs are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Within the pharmacy setting, we provide a stress-free, one-on-one, patient-first service to our customers, which is something we are very proud of,” said Gevaria, who has started two previous pharmacies, Security Drugs, 3419 Boston Road, and Goodman Plaza Pharmacy, 3250 Third Avenue (near 163rd Street), before opening this location.

“This stretch of Boston Road was in need of a location that could provide pharmacy service – and the deli and market areas of the store make it a great mix and provide even more options for shoppers.”

Gevaria, who was born in India, opened his first pharmacy, Security Drugs, in 1997.
