More than 1,000 children attended Councilman Andy King and the Bronx Youth Empowerment Program’s ‘Reading is Cool Back-to-School’ rally on Friday, September 16 at Evander Childs High School.

The event’s star studded guest speakers included NYC Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina; NYC Department of Education District 11 superintendent Meisha Ross-Porter, New York Public Library president Tony Marx; Queens Library president Dennis Walcott; Jamaal Bailey, Democratic nominee for state senator and 2016 Summer Olympics gold medal winner Phyllis Chanez Francis.
