Councilman James Vacca met with staff and volunteers at the New York Public Library’s Morris Park branch on Tuesday, July 14. The visit was a celebration of Library Advocate Appreciation Day, which was a time to thank community, local elected officials, staff and supporters for their contributions to an city budget advocacy campaign “Invest in Libraries, Invest in New York.” The campaign appears to have been successful, with a substantial increase in the capital budget for city libraries included in a Fiscal Year 2016 budget taking effect on Wednesday, July 1.
