The Bronx now has a bigger and better place for all your vision needs.
Metro Optics Eyewear recently opened its fourth location in the Bronx at the new Throggs Neck Shopping Center.
They hosted an open house and ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, December 11.
The new flagship store—which supplements Metro Optics’ Westchester Square, Parkchester, and Hunts Point locations—has been in the works for more than two years, said owner John Bonizio.
The company was excited about the Throggs Neck Shopping Center from the beginning and signed the first lease at the property, he said, and since then has been working to bring their vision to life.
“Now it’s up, and it’s drop dead gorgeous,” said Bonizio about the store.
The front of the shop is a spacious, and carefully designed, 2,500 square feetshowroom.
Just beyond the floor displays are rooms for on-site eye exams and contact lens fittings, plus the laboratory where glasses are fabricated on-site.
The lab allows for sameday service in most cases, said Bonizio, and because it serves the other Metro Optics locations too, it offers consistent quality throughout the company.
“We’re very proud of it,” said Bonizio about the newest location.
The store carries a wide range of eyewear for every taste and price point. It carries high end designers like Tom Ford, Valentino, Cartier—and it is the only Chanel distributor in the borough—said Bonizio, in addition to budget friendly options that run two-for $99. The Kids Corner offers stylish options for smaller faces.
Metro Optics also now carries more unique types of glasses in the form of wearable electronics. They carry seven models of electronic eyewear with features including Bluetooth, video recording, or a virtual theater.
“There’s nothing you can’t get here,” said Bonizio about the eyewear selection.
Aside from the extensive inventory and on-site optical services, Bonizio said what sets the company apart from others is the high level of customer service from a knowledgeable staff. For example, they know how to take people with hard to fit prescriptions and put them in fashionable glasses.
“People know when they come to Metro Optics we really care about what they leave with,” said Bonizio.
Bonizio believes Metro Optics Eyewear’s Throggs Neck location is unparalleled, and calls it the best optical store in New York.
“It’s beautiful, it’s spacious, and we’ve got the best customer service.”
