Shamrock Inn to hold party for co-owners celebrating 20 years

A married couple will soon celebrate the 20-year anniversary of their bar and restaurant.

On Saturday, December 10, from 8 p.m. to midnight, co-owners Rosetta and Chris Lawless will celebrate two decades of ownership at Shamrock Inn, a bar and restaurant which has had a presence in Pelham Bay for the past 70 years.

The bar (now restaurant bar) has provided the Pelham Bay community with a warm, close-knit ‘home-away-from-home’ atmosphere where individuals and groups can easily meet and connect with others from the neighborhood.

Reflecting on their years in business, Rosetta seemed more than appreciative of all of the support that the establishment has received from the community.

“So many memories have taken place here – and it’s hard to narrow it down to just one particular moment,” said Rosetta, who was born and raised in Co-Tyrone, Ireland, before settling in the Bronx. “These past 20 years have been a lot of fun – and both my husband and I have met a lot of interesting people with truly amazing life stories and experiences.”

Rosetta added that their bartender, Dominick Dillon, has also been part of the Shamrock Inn for the past two decades, as long as her and Chris, who have been married for over 25 years, have owned the establishment. Their children, Michelle and Sean, also work in the restaurant.

“We’re still here – and it’s great to celebrate our tenure as a successful establishment in this neighborhood,” she added. “I can’t thank our customers enough for all the support they’ve given us over the years to keep us here.”

The name ‘Shamrock’ originates from the fact that, throughout its history, the establishment has always been owned by an individual of Irish descent.

Shamrock Inn moved to its current location, 1729 Crosby Avenue, just before Rosetta and Chris took ownership. In 2005, the bar was completed renovated and a restaurant dining area was installed.

The bar was previously located on the other side of Crosby Avenue before the Rosetta and Chris took over in 1996.
