Tour de Bronx is in just a few weeks—on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 10 a.m.—but registration is still open!
Tour de Bronx is an annual bike ride around the Bronx hosted by The Bronx Tourism Council and the Bronx Borough President, Vanessa L. Gibson. This year is the 30th anniversary of the event, which was started by a group of Bronx locals in 1994. It evolved from 300 participants to over 5,000 in recent years, making it the largest free cycling event in New York State.
Like in past years, there are three courses for riders to choose from: one is 10 miles, the second is 25 miles and the longest one is 40 miles. The event is completely free for riders of all routes. The first 2,000 registrants even get a free t-shirt!
This year, the ride starts on the Grand Concourse, where recent Walk of Fame inductee Amadeus will emcee. The finish line for the ride will be located on the grounds of the New York Botanical Garden, where there will be a celebration to cap off a good day spent in The Bronx.
Since this is the 30th anniversary of the event, the celebration will include musical performances by two major artists: Amadeus and New York’s All-Women Salsa Orchestra, Lulada Club.
If you’re interested in attending the event but you do not want to ride in it, become a volunteer! The Bronx Tourism Council is looking for people to help distribute water and snacks on the courses, distribute t-shirts, assist with check-in, carry tables and chairs needed for the event and more. If you are able to help at any point during the day, visit our website to sign up for a volunteer shift.
