The Allerton International Merchants Association unveiled the new mural dedicated to Colin Powell located on Wallace and Allerton avenues on Wednesday, November 19. Colin Powell’s daughter, Linda, joined Allerton residents and merchants at the unveiling to honor her father. “This is Allerton’s statement of unity with its fellow Bronxites that we are no longer divided by imaginary borders and neighborhoods. That we are one Bronx and when one Bronxite succeeds, we all succeed. We want our children to see this mural and, once they learn who Colin Powell is, that he grew up in the Bronx and achieved great things through hard work and perpetual optimism, that they also aspire to do great things,” stated Gene DeFrancis, director of the Allerton International Merchants Association.
