THURS, FEB. 26th, 11:30 a.m. – Third Ave. and East 155 St. A city bus driver required emergency assistance from police and an ambulance crew. The driver while operating a bus ended up in a dispute with a unknown passenger. The driver received a minor laceration to the left forearm. The emergency room staff at Lincoln Medical Center treated the bus driver as police look for the attacker.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 7:05 p.m. – 435 East 144 St. An elderly woman was the victim of a home invasion. An unidentified black male forced his way into the home of a 73-year-old woman. The thief fled with a one hundred dollars in cash beside other unknown property. The woman refused medical assistance.
41st PCT.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 12:00 p.m. – 980 Simpson Ave. Police arrested a perpetrator after a 28-year-old male was attacked. The Hispanic male victim was shot in the right hand besides being slashed in the face. Detectives were busy gathering all the facts concerning the incident before the case can be presented in a court of law.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 8:00 p.m. – Bruckner Blvd. and East 149 St. A call was transmitted over the various public safety radio networks indicating that a person was trapped inside a vehicle. Fire and police units equipped with the Jaws of Life and other rescue tools were enroute within moments. The 53-year-old male driver of a livery cab was killed during the two-vehicle accident officials indicated. Two adults, a 22-year-old woman and her 28-year-old boyfriend, who were in a mini-van, were reported in extremely serious condition while a six-year-old girl was reported to be critical. The couple had been baby-sitting the young girl at the time of the accident. The livery cab was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed on a wet pavement, smashing into the min-van. Officers from Highway 1’s Accident Investigation Squad are assisting with the ongoing inquiry.
42nd PCT.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 9:35 p.m. – 1288 Washington Ave. Police are looking into a shooting. The male victim walked into Lincoln Medical Center suffering from a bullet wound to the arm. Police were notified and responded to obtain information about the incident. Now, detectives will handle the inquiry.
43rd PCT.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 3:00 p.m. – 2225 Lacombe Ave. Two persons were arrested after authorities became aware of a domestic dispute that ended with two persons being injured. Both parties required medical assistance and received it at Jacobi Medical Center. Based on cross-complaints, the two parties were arrested and charged accordingly.
44th PCT.
WED, FEB. 25th, 12:40 a.m. – 1125 Morris Ave. Authorities are looking for two Hispanic males who forced there way into a home. The unknown pair pushed there way into the home in order to rob the occupant. Taken was an unknown amount of jewelry and a small amount of money.
WED, FEB. 25th, 3:15 p.m. – 1001 University Ave. With the arrest of a 40-year-old woman, police removed another handgun from Bronx streets. This time the arrest was made in the Highbridge section with authorities recovering a 22-caliber revolver.
SUN, MARCH 1st, 2:00 a.m. – East 167 St. and Sherman Ave. Authorities are looking into the shooting of a teenage boy. A 15-year-old black male was shot once in the leg officials reported. The injured teen was treated at Lincoln Medical Center as detectives started to examine evidence connected with the shooting.
SUN, MARCH 1st, 3:30 a.m. – Major Deegan Expwy. at the exit for Interstate 95. Police are looking into a vehicle accident. The incident claimed the life of a person who was ejected from a vehicle. Officers from Highway 1’s Accident Investigation Squad are working with local detectives to see if there is any criminally connected to the mishap.
SUN, MARCH 1st, 2:00 p.m. – Walton Ave. and East 170 St. Police officers came to the assistance of a traffic agent. This time a traffic agent was transported to Lincoln Medical Center after being struck by a vehicle as it drove off. The city-worker injuries were reported to be minor.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 11:40 a.m. – 1500 Grand Concourse. A male apparently took his own life officials report. His mother apparently found the young victim after hanging himself by using his belt. Investigators will wait to see what information the autopsy under covers.
TUES, MARCH 3rd, 10:15 a.m. – 1075 Webster Ave. A 42-year-old Hispanic male decided to have a standoff with police. The emotionally disturbed man attempted to destroy security cameras in the building’s lobby area by burning them. Then, he ran into his apartment, locking himself inside. Specialized police officers were summoned to the scene including officers from the elite Emergency Service Squad. Shortly after 11:45 a.m., police had gained control of the man, removing him to Lincoln Medical Center for assistance. However, he will be facing criminal mischief charged.
45th PCT.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 10:20 p.m. – Randall Ave. and Cross Bronx Expwy Extension. Police took a 52-year-old black male into custody. The man was nabbed by police while in possession of a 380-caliber pistol.
SAT, FEB. 28th, 12:15 a.m. – 2065 Mayflower Ave. Two suspects were arrested after being chased by police. Forty-Third Pct. officers nabbed the suspects in the Forty-First Pct. area ending the chased with the two culprits. The pair was charged with grand larceny auto.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 6:30 a.m. – St. Raymond’s Ave. and Benson St. Authorities indicated that two more city vehicles were damaged. Both vehicles are assigned to a Bronx Traffic detachment. The ties had been slashed apparently over night by an unknown person.
TUES, MARCH 3rd, 5:15 a.m. – 3215 Randall Ave. A male was arrested and charged with shooting a person. A unidentified female was treated at Jacobi Medical Center after being shot in the foot in the Throggs Neck section. Police recovered a shotgun.
46th PCT.
THURS, FEB. 26th, 10:30 a.m. – 1965 Webster Ave. Emergency workers evacuated the occupants of a building. The building contained an unsafe amount of gas. Firefighters and police officers assisted while Con Edison personnel turned off the gas and handled the leak.
THURS, FEB. 26th, 4:40 p.m. – 1652 Popham Ave. Several weapons were recovered by police officers. Officials at the scene requested units from the Emergency Service Squad to assist them with the weapons. Two weapons were vouched as evidence for the upcoming court proceeding.
47th PCT.
THURS, FEB. 26th, 5:45 p.m. – 3335 Eastchester Rd. A 9-mm handgun was recovered with an arrest that was made by a local patrol officer. The weapon was vouched as evidence for use during the culprit’s court hearing.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 4:20 a.m. – 707 East 216 St. Authorities are looking for the person who discharged a gun illegally. The bullet was fired through the wall of a bedroom. No one was reported injured.
SUN, MARCH 1st, 4:30 a.m. – 688 East Gun Hill Rd. Authorities are looking for three males Hispanics who attacked another person. The three attackers then removed personal property from the victim who was also assaulted.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 12:00 p.m. – 4200 Herkimer Pl. Police were alerted that a body had been discovered. Responding police officers found the victim’s body in a bathroom. Apparently the person might have taken their own life authorities indicated. The Medical Examiner’s office will determine if the death was a suicide or a homicide.
48th PCT.
THURS, FEB. 26th, 1:00 p.m. – East 179 St. and Crotona Ave. Three culprits were nabbed by local police officers. The three males were arrested after authorities were alerted to a armed robbery. The male perpetrators attempted to car-jack a vehicle besides taking a gold chain from the victim. With the arrest, police also recovered a handgun.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 6:25 p.m. – 611 Crotona Park North. A 47-year-old Hispanic male required medical attention after being shot. The Latino male received a grazed wound to the forehead. He was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital. Detectives are all ready looking into the incident.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 8:10 a.m. – 2075 Clinton Ave. Detectives are gathering information about a shooting that occurred at a house of worship. A male had been shot in the head while at the Holy Temple Church of the Lord. Apparently, the gunman was the victim’s emotionally disturbed relative.
TUES, MARCH 3rd, 3:30 p.m. – 760 East Tremont Ave. Based on a complaint, police arrested an 18-year-old male who was charged with assaulting a 23-year-old man.
49th PCT.
FRI, FEB. 27th, 11:40 p.m. – 2901 White Plains Rd. A search was conducted for two black males. The armed pair of culprits conducted a robbery and fled with an unknown amount of money from their victims.
TUES, MARCH 3rd, 2:35 a.m. – 2064 Barnes Ave. Authorities are looking into the death of a 37-year-old woman. The Latino woman apparently jumped to her death from a 7th floor window.
50th PCT.
SAT, FEB. 28th, 2:30 a.m. – 6697 Broadway. The staff at North Central Bronx Hospital treated a male for a bullet wound. The man had been shot once in the leg. Additional police officers were deployed into the area to help conduct a search. Detectives are conducting an inquiry.
SAT, FEB. 28th, 10:00 p.m. – Broadway and West 251 St. Police were alerted that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Riverdale section. Local police officers notified Highway 1’s Accident Investigation Squad members that their services were needed at the accident scene.
Housing
WED, FEB. 25th, 8:30 p.m. – 3355 Bivona St. The emergency room staff at Jacobi Medical Center assisted a 19-year-old male who had been attacked. The teen was suffering from two stab wounds to the back when he arrived at the hospital. Meanwhile police officers from Housing’s PSA # 8 and members of the 47th Pct. Detective Squad responded to the crime scene to obtain information for the inquiry.
Fire Log
WED, FEB. 25th, 5:26 p.m. – 116 West 238 St. Firefighters from the Bailey Ave. station only had to travel a few blocks before arriving at a six-story apartment house near West 238th St. A fire was reported on the second floor, a hose line was quickly stretched by the engine crews as water was pumped into the hose line. Ladder crew’s members conducted searches in the burning apartment and other adjacent apartments to ensure occupant safety and to check on the spread of the fire. Other firefighters vented the building permitting the smoke and other poisonous gases. Battalion 19 indicated that one occupant was injured and that an ambulance crew transported the victim to a local hospital.
WED, FEB. 25th, 9:20 p.m. – 1667 Luring Ave. A fire was deemed suspicious that damaged a home in the Morris Park section. The occupant was housed with relatives whom reside across the street from the damage home.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 7:15 p.m. – 51 Buchanan Pl. Firefighters from several fire stations responded to an apartment house located near Grand Ave. Arriving firefighting units indicated that they were going to work, and additional assistance was dispatched. Afterwards, officials indicated that the services to the building were restored including electricity and heat.
MON, MARCH 2nd, 11:20 p.m. – 1512 Leland Ave. Emergency units raced to the five-story high apartment building after receiving reported that the structure was filling up with a poisonous gas. Firefighter using special meters indicated that carbon monoxide was found through out the structure. Ambulance crews treated and then transported 21 persons to area hospitals as a precautionary measure. Crews from seven Emergency Medical Service units were involved in the operations. A faulty boiler was apparently generating the toxic gas.
