According to the NYPD’s crime statistics for Bronx police precincts for the 28-day period from Feb. 26 to March 24, when compared with statistics from the same time time period a year ago, the number of grand larcenies saw a steady increase across the borough.

In the 49th Precinct, cases of rapes, felony assaults, grand larcenies and grand larceny auto crimes all increased. Some of these jumps were less severe, such as felony assaults, which increased by 24.1%. However, rapes increased from one to five in this time period (a 400% increase) and other crimes increased by as much as 65.3%, which is the case for grand larcenies in this precinct. Grand larceny auto crimes saw a significant jump of 44.4% during this time period compared to last year. The 49th Precinct includes Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens and Pelham Gardens.

The 47th Precinct — which covers Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville, Fishbay and Woodlawn Cemetery — also saw its fair share of crime. Robberies and grand larceny auto crimes saw smaller rises of 7.1% and 18.2%, respectfully, but the precinct also saw a 42.9% rise in burglaries and 200% rise in rapes, with a jump from two to six. Murders decreased by one and the precinct saw a formidable fall in grand larcenies at an 14.5% decline.

In the 42nd Precinct, including Claremont, Crotona Park East and Crotona Park, rapes fell by one, resulting in a 33.3% decline. Felony assaults and burglaries increased by 13.6% and 13%, but this trend of either of these crimes increasing was also seen in other precincts, such as the 40th Precinct, which includes Port Morris, Mott Haven and Melrose.

Murders dropped in the 40th, 43rd, 47th, 48th and 50th precincts and remained the same at zero in every other precinct, with the exception of the 44th and 46th precincts, where there was a notable jump from zero in the same time period a year ago to one this year in the 44th Precinct and three in the 46th.

The 46th Precinct also saw notable increases in burglaries and grand larcenies which increased by 28.6% and 35%, respectively. Robberies also increased in this time period with a jump from 24 to 27, marking a change of 12.5% over this time period. This precinct includes Fordham, University Heights, Morris Heights and Mount Hope.

The 43rd Precinct — which includes Westchester Avenue, Castle Hill Avenue, White Plains Road and Parkchester — saw drops in every major crime in this time period with the exception of robberies and felony assaults, which increased by 10.5% and 20%, respectively.
