On Friday, October 4, a shooting took place inside of the mezzanine area of the 167th Street and Grand Concourse subway station, following a dispute between a woman, who was accompanied by her child, and 25-year old James Cubille.

The woman was also accompanied by another man, who shot Cubille in the stomach. The man fled from the subway station and ran northbound on Grand Concourse.

The police eventually arrested 29-year old Rafael Hollis in connection with the shooting.

Cubille, who was the father of the child, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital. The woman and the child were not injured during the incident.
