Mott Hall Charter School to commemorate exceptional accomplishments of students and staff

On June 5, Mott Hall Charter School at 1260 Franklin Ave., will host its final Virtual RISE assembly for the school year at 10 a.m.

It will honor the achievements of its student and staff members who have excelled in high engagement, focus, teamwork, integrity and responsibility, among other positive behaviors. Their notable feats will be celebrated and rewarded with “RISE points,” which signify strides in their development.

The top RISE point earners from each class are given the title, “Elite Status” and with this status, each a special set of privileges. Two students from each grade are also presented with a character award in recognition of positive character traits, including self-control, open-mindedness, bravery and kindness. Dr. Meghan Oppenheimer, assistant principal of guidance, announces the scholar who exhibits the character strength of the month.

Located in Morrisania, the Mott Hall Charter School is a middle school for grades six, seven and eight.

Principal and Executive Director Connie Lobdell is proud of how the school has sustained during COVID-19.

“In spite of the current challenging circumstances, we have successfully maintained an exceptional level of instruction throughout,” Lobdell said. “The Mott Hall multi-platform approach has yielded excellent student engagement as the staff consistently reaches out to them and their families offering steadfast assistance where needed.”

It is currently running a Family Fund Drive for COVID-19 to assist its students and families with a goal of $10,000 of which, close to $4,000 has been reached, more information can be found here.

Lobdell explained that throughout the crisis, the staff is constantly reaching out to its students and parents offering assistance where needed. They stay in touch through weekly live Facebook addresses hosted by Lobdell, as well as through Instagram, Tik Tok and monthly virtual RISE assemblies.
