Man fatally shot in Norwood; police investigation underway

A 40-year-old man was shot and killed on Wednesday afternoon in the Norwood section of the Bronx, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:47 p.m. when officers responded to a 911 call about a male shot near East 198th Street and Bainbridge Avenue, within the 52nd Precinct. Upon arrival, police found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and leg. He was unconscious and unresponsive.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) rushed the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save him, he later succumbed to his injuries.

As of Wednesday evening, police have not made any arrests, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, pending family notification.
