The unveiling of a new logo aimed at borough community gardeners marked the beginning of an ambitious call for locals to grow 5,000 pounds of Serrano peppers. Gabriel Ruiz of Throggs Neck designed the logo, used in a markeing campaign called Bronx 5K. The campaign, run by Small Axe Peppers and nonprofit GrowNYC, is a challenge to the gardeners to grow the vegetable, which will be used in the Bronx Greenmarket Hot Sauce. A panel selected the logo winner and two finalists, who received a $5,000 prize.
