Months after the New York City opened its first dispensary in the East Village on Dec. 29, the Bronx — one of the regions heavily impacted by cannabis enforcement — is still without a physical retail cannabis storefront.

To the Editor,

All Bronx city councilmembers, along with the Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, need to unite with Councilwoman Marjorie Velázquez to actively demand that the Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark with the Sheriff’s Office pursue a more active response to the presence of illegal smoke shops — especially near our schools. Their weak leadership is threatening all our neighborhoods. United, decisive action not blame is needed now!
