The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that there will be lane closures on the Bronx River Parkway from Gun Hill Road to Nereid Avenue from Friday night, Sept. 20, through Sunday morning, Sept. 22. The closures will take place nightly from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
During this time, one lane will remain open in both directions, but motorists should prepare for possible intermittent full closures of up to 15 minutes. These short-term closures will be necessary to facilitate construction on NYSDOT’s $65 million project to replace the Bronx River Parkway bridge over the Metro-North railroad tracks.
All work is weather-permitting, and any inclement conditions could result in rescheduling the closures.
Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes or plan for potential delays during the work period. For real-time traffic updates, visit New York’s official traffic information website at 511NY.org or call 5-1-1.
NYSDOT is urging motorists to slow down in work zones and to drive responsibly. Fines are doubled for speeding in construction zones, and repeat offenders risk having their driver’s licenses suspended.
