Gibson to host Black History Month celebration

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson will host her Black History Month celebration Thursday at Eastwood Manor located at 3371 Eastchester Road. The evening is meant to recognize the richness of African American culture and history in the Bronx, and will feature special performances by DJ Lex and Renaissance Youth Center.
Receiving the Aurelia Greene Memorial Award is the founder and director of Bringing the Peace Linda Kemp. Other honorees are CEO of Association for a Better New York Melva M. Miller, president and CEO of the Renaissance Youth Center Bervin Harris, and president of Children of Promise Sharon Content. A Youth Award will be given to the Renaissance Youth Center and PIX 11’s Jay Dow will serve as MC for the event.
Sponsors for the event include Ponce Bank, BronxCare Health System and Union Community Health Center.
