Students and staff at Fredrick Douglass Academy III in Claremont accepted a $5,000 grant from Municipal Credit Union at the United Federation of Teachers headquarters.
The grant was an award for their work in the 2014 Build a Better School Contest. The contest encouraged students to create short videos describing the needs of their schools for the chance to win grants to complete those projects.
The Academy’s winning runner-up submission focused on improving technology and lab equipment. School representatives accepted a check from MCU vice-president Corey Fernandes.
