Dr. Kenneth Gonoud has lived in Throggs Neck for his entire life, and built a successful chiropractic business there. So he wanted to find a way to thank the people around him, and he decided a food drive would be the best way.

“As a lifelong resident, I just wanted to give something back,” he said.

Dr. Gonoud, who runs Community Chiropractic of Throggs Neck, will be accepting non-perishable foods, including canned and dried goods at his 4191 East Tremont Avenue office. Anyone who brings in more than $30 worth of food this week will receive a free chiropractic session.

“If people want to experience the benefits of chiropractic, its something where I’m basically volunteering my services,” Dr. Gonoud said.

He plans to work with St. Frances de Chantal parish and Little Sisters of the Poor to distribute collected food to disadvantaged individuals and families during the Thanksgiving weekend.

“I’m hoping to boost their collections during the holiday,” he said.

Dr. Gonoud became a licensed chiropractor in 1988. He was recognized by the New York Chiropractic Council in 2003 and received the Assemblyman Peter G. Mirto award for his service to the people of New York in 2008.

It will not be Dr. Gonoud’s first food drive, but he has not held one in several years and it will be the first time he uses the hook of a free session.

He will also be serving light snacks at his office throughout the duration of the food drive and meeting prospective patients face to face.

There is no minimum donation if people do not want a free session.

“As a resident of Throggs Neck, it feels good to help those who need help.”
