Congressmen Jose Serrano and Adriano Espaillat hosted their Dominican Heritage Celebration on Tuesday, February 21 at Lehman College with local community groups and advocates.
The event featured local entertainment and honored community leaders working with the Dominican Diaspora in the borough.
This year’s distinguished honorees included Eddie Cuesta, Dominicanos USA executive director; Jaime Vargas, former ambassador of the Dominican Republic for Asian Affairs and small business owner; Dr. Hugo Morales, psychiatrist and civic leader and Sussie Lozaza, UNITEHERE! Local 100 community organizing and political director.
Sussie Lozada (2nd from l) was presented the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for her service to the Bronx and its residents.
