The East Bronx History Forum (EBHF) is pleased to announce the beginning of its 18th season as we hold our 177th meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the City Island Nautical Museum, located at 190 Fordham St. This in-person meeting will focus on the history of City Island given by Barbara Dolensek of the City Island Historical Society.

Although it is only a mile and a half long, City Island has a very long and interesting history — from the days when the Lenape people gathered oysters and clams there to its continuing popularity as a place to dine on seafood. Over the past 350 years, from the time it was acquired by Thomas Pell to the present day, City Island has been renowned for its oyster industry, its boat-building, its historic houses and its location as a movie set.

Please consider making a donation to our gracious host at the City Nautical Museum. Their website is www.cityislandmuseum.org.

Follow us on our Facebook or Instagram pages for the most current updates or information, we look forward to seeing you as we begin our new season of presentations.

The EBHF is a 501(c)3 non-profit chartered by the New York State Education Department.
