Christopher Columbus High School bids adieu

Farewell, Columbus! Principal Lisa Maffei-Fuentes with the yearbook from 1977, the year she graduated from Pelham Parkway’s Christopher Columbus High School. Alumni and students flocked to Villa Barone Manor on Friday, June 27 for one final hurrah as the school graduated its final class. Once a thriving Bronx institution that graduated the likes of Ralph Lauren, as well as local political powers Councilman Jimmy Vacca and State Senator Jeff Klein, the school had been placed on a city “phase-out list.”
