Chester Civic Improvement Association

United Cerebral Palsy of NYC has informed us that they have funds available to help individuals with disabilities live in accessible housing through home modifications under the UCP Access to Home Program.  Grants are available, with-income qualifications, to individuals with disabilities, including senior citizens, stroke and accident victims, veterans and persons with developmental disabilities, mobility impairments, arthritis, hearing impairment or visual impairment.  Modifications such as ramps, stair glides, wheelchair lifts, automatic door openers, grab bars and roll in showers allow an individual to be more independent and offer an alternative to out-of home placement.  Applicants need not own their residence.  Modifications can be made if the landlord grants permission.  The following income limits apply:

• For an individual, household income must be below $43,000

• For a family of 2, household income must be below $49,150

• For a family of 3, household income must be below $55,300

• For a family of 4, household income must be below $61,450
