The state will hold the first of three public hearings Wednesday to discuss its plan to rehab five bridges along the Cross Bronx Expressway. But Bronx leaders and transit advocates are pressing Albany for more time to review the plan, citing a lengthy and dense environmental assessment and busy holiday season.

Environmental advocates and elected officials threw their support behind the Hunts Point Blue Highways Project on Tuesday, urging Governor Hochul and the NYSDOT to follow suit and do more to reduce congestion on the Cross Bronx Expressway. They said that it's time for the city, state and community to get on the same page about repairing the highway and its environmental and public health toll.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, the Bronx Tourism Council and the Bronx Economic Development Corporation hyped up the 31st annual tour De Bronx Tuesday at a press conference at Lou Gehrig Plaza. They highlighted some of the sights riders would enjoy on the routes this year, talked about past experiences at the borough's signature cycling event and emphasized its importance in creating new cyclists in the Bronx and demonstrating a demand for safe cycling infrastructure.
