Friday, Feb. 16

Friday Flicks: Family Movie Time

From 4 to 5:45 p.m.; free admission.

Children and families are invited to kick back and enjoy a family-friendly movie together every Friday at the Bronx Library Center, located at 310 East Kingsbridge Road. More info can be found online here.

Saturday, Feb. 17

The Orchid Show: Florals in Fashion

From 1o a.m. to 5 p.m.; $15-35.

The Orchid Show arrives at the New York Botanical Garden this Saturday, featuring a fashion-inspired celebration of orchids. The exhibition will spotlight work by rising designers like Collina Strada by Hillary Taymour, Dauphinette by Olivia Cheng and FLWR PSTL by Kristen Alpaugh.

The show will run every Tuesday-Sunday until April 21 in the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. This exhibition is included with the price of general admission tickets to the New York Botanical Garden. For more information, check out NYBG’s website.

Family Art Project: Love for Woodland Friends

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; free to $10.

Families are invited to craft their very own stuffed woodland critter at Wave Hill House, located at 4900 Independence Ave., before a family storytime at 11:30 a.m. in the Gund Theater. All ages are welcome to attend. More info can be found online here.

Sunday, Feb. 18

Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company Lunar New Year Celebration

Starts at 3 p.m.; $5-12.

Celebrate Lunar New Year with the Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company as they welcome in the Year of the Dragon. This event will feature contemporary and traditional Chinese dances, acrobatics, live music and colorful costumes at the Hostos’ Center for Arts and Culture, located at 450 Grand Concourse.

The show is $5 for children and students, $10 for seniors and $12 for adults.

BxPE Farmers’ Market

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; free admission.

Sunday is the last week for the Farmers’ Market at Bronx Park. Fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs will be available for purchase, along with locally-made goods like jams and baked goods. More info can be found online here.
