New York Blood Center (NYBC) will be hosting a blood drive with the Bronx Masonic District on Tuesday, April 11 from 3:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church at 113 Bay St. in the Bronx.

The Bronx Masonic District has been a long-time partner of NYBC, sponsoring blood drives for more than 25 years and collecting in excess of 3,500 blood donations. The group is a consistent partner for NYBC, sponsoring two blood drives each year. This blood drive will be the Bronx Masonic District’s 80th blood drive in partnership with NYBC.

It only takes one hour to donate blood, and a single donation can save multiple lives. Roughly 1 in 7 hospital admissions require a blood transfusion. Those in need include: cancer patients, accident, burn or trauma victims, newborn babies and their mothers, transplant recipients, surgery patients, chronically transfused patients suffering from sickle cell disease or thalassemia and many more.

Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently lifted eligibility restrictions for individuals who lived in Europe during certain periods of time. To view current eligibility guidelines, visit nybc.org or call 1-800-688-0900.

To make an appointment at Tuesday’s blood drive, donors can call 1-800-933-2566 or visit this link. Can’t donate blood? You can still support NYBC’s mission by texting ‘NYBC’ to ‘20222’ to give $25.
