Bronx beep hosts first Disability Advisory Council Meet and Greet

The Office of the Bronx Borough President hosted its first Disability Advisory Council Meet and Greet March 11 at the rotunda in Bronx Borough Hall.

The event highlighted inclusion for Bronx individuals with disabilities, as well as accessibility and advocacy for them. Tables were available to assist community members with disabilities and were sometimes staffed with people with disabilities.

Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson also honored Khalia Hayslett, a travel educator for Disabled New Yorkers and Miss Wheelchair New York 2023, with a Citation of Merit, a proclamation declaring Bronx Independent Living Services Day and Ramon Santos, senior benefits counselor at Center For Independence of the Disabled NY (CIDNY) with a Citation of Merit.
