BB Gunman Injures Police Officer & Woman

Police searched for pellets that were fired at a police officer and a woman standing outside of the J.P. Mitchell Houses last Tuesday night.

Police are investigating the BB gun shooting of a police officer and woman in Mott Haven. According to police, on Tuesday, August 15 at around 10:30 p.m. police officers and EMS workers were helping a 61-year-old woman who had been shot in her right hand with a BB at 300 E. 138th Street. Suddenly, the first responders came under fire from a BB gun. An officer was shot in the forearm by a BB and was treated at the scene. The woman was taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made in this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls are kept strictly confidential.
