Rivera will be married on Sunday, September 20, at the First United Methodist Church in Central Islip, Long Island. The wedding ceremony will be officiated by the bride’s father.

The bride, 29, will be taking the groom’s surname. Born and raised in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx, she is an English adjunct lecturer at two CUNY universities, as well as a poet and writer.

The groom, 35, was born and raised in the Castle Hill section of the Bronx.

The couple met in May of 2009 and got engaged last May in Barcelona, Spain. They live in the Bronx with their pet rabbit Oscar Pez Robayo.

They have the following message: Thank you to all our family and friends for the their love and support.

A note: I personally will never forget that Patricio Robayo and I spent part of the day during Superstorm Sandy in Clason Point, wading into ankle deep water that had already flooded low-lying areas hours before the storm surge.
