A Lehman High School safety agent is fighting for his life after being struck by two cars near Westchester Square last week.
According to published reports, the incident happened on Tuesday, January 24 at 6 a.m. when Heriberto Lopez, 59, attempted to cross Little League Avenue near East Tremont Avenue as a car was turning into the street.
The school safety agent was parking his personal vehicle when he was struck by one car and then by another while on the ground.
Witnesses said Lopez was not in the crosswalk, but was in the middle of the road.
Lopez sustained head trauma, a spleen injury and a broken ankle.
He was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center in critical condition and has undergone surgery.
No charges were filed against the unidentified driver of the first car who remained at the scene.
Police are still investigating the incident.
The second driver allegedly fled the scene.
