Yankee Stadium wasn’t the only place to see talent on opening day.
The 161st Street Business Improvement District sponsored street performers to entertain the crowds before opening day at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, April 13. While the Yankees soundly defeated the Angels by a score of 7 to 5, a real show could also be seen on the streets outside of the stadium as jugglers, stilt walkers, and acrobats performed.
The performers entertained crowds in an effort to enhance the fan experience and show the borough’s appreciation of the Yankees.
“We want to show our support for the team and the borough,” said Dr. Cary Goodman, the BID’s executive director. “We want our guests to enjoy themselves and come away with a positive image of the Bronx.”
In addition to the performances, The BID worked with Bronx Community Solutions to clean the sidewalks and the Bronx Tourism Council to provide information about other Bronx attractions like the Bronx Museum.
