In honor of Black History Month, Councilman Andy King toasted several African American leaders at his annual Celebrating Our History event on Thursday, February 1 at Evander Childs High School’s library. This year’s event paid tribute to such distinguished honorees as Tamika Mallory, Mallory Consulting founder, Women’s March national co-chairwoman and activist; Hazel Dukes, Civil Rights activist and former NAACP national president; Michael Gardner, One Hundred Black Men, Inc. of New York president and Al De Castro, North East Bronx Democratic Club founding member and North East Bronx Community Coalition founder.

The day’s honorees, elected officials, community leaders, activists and Evander Childs High School students enjoyed the cultural celebration.
