Giving Back

A young, Bronx native is giving back to her community by sponsoring a young girl with a Catholic school education through Inner-City Scholarship Fund, the same organization that supported her only a few years ago.

“Giving back” is more than just lip-service for 25-year-old Marci Dillion.

Having just received an MBA and starting her career, she has already begun to offer financial, emotional and career advice through the Inner City Scholarship Fund, the organization that made it possible for her to attend a Catholic school in the Bronx.

Marci is youngest of ten children, and the only one of her siblings to be born in the United States. While most of her siblings were trying to obtain visas to enter the country from Jamaica, she lived in the Bronx with two brothers, one sister and her parents who struggled financially. A religious education was always very important to them but they could not afford the tuition.

Marci is very grateful to the ICSF for finding a donor to sponsor. She will sponsor the student starting in fifth grade at Our Lady of Grace School (which Marci attended) and then continuing at Aquinas High School.

“My teachers always inspired me to follow my dreams and helped me realize I could accomplish anything. I wanted to give another child the same opportunity I was given, to receive a quality Catholic school education and create a better life.”
