Borough Native Serves Aboard U.S. Warship
Joel Florntinomarte, a Petty Officer 3rd Class in the U.S. Navy and a 2012 graduate of the High School Environmental Studies, is an information systems technician aboard a guided-missile cruiser.
Florntinomarte is a borough native. He said that what he likes about his job is making sure the communications network is working so that ships can communicate with the outside world.
He found a lesson he learned in the Bronx useful: The best lesson learned is no matter what you go through in life, always smile — it goes a long way.
Come See Some Wrestling
Former two-time world champion and one-time United States champion WWE Wrestler and current Mixed Martial Artist Jack Swagger will wrestle at the St. Helena Gym, 1315 Olmstead Avenue, along with many other wrestlers, including a large contingent of Southern Boys driving up from North Carolina to participate in BCW Bri-Combination.
The wrestling event takes place at the St. Helena School gymnasium on Friday, October 12 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
