Passing Of

Fr. Richard Gorman

The Bronx Times Reporter Family sends its deepest condolences to the family of Fr. Richard Gorman, who passed away Tuesday, January 23. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 28, at Sisto Funeral Home, 3489 E. Tremont Avenue, from 3 to 8 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 29, at St. Michael’s Church, 765 Co-op City Boulevard.

Hall Convocation

Pastor Jay Gooding of the Fellowship Tabernacle in Williamsbrdge and the Miracle Revival Temple near the Grand Concourse was invited by Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson to offer a convocation before the NYC City Council’s stated meeting on Tuesday, January 16.

Notable Passings

The Throggs Neck community mourns the loss of Barbara Archambault.

Barbara was married to Gerald ‘Jerry’ and was the amazing mother of Michelle Archambault-Schaefer, Gerald, and Denise Archambault-Calio and she was a loving grandmother who adored all of her grandchildren.

A wake will be held on Friday, January 26 at Schuyler Hill Funeral Home at 3535 E. Tremont Avenue.

A funeral mass will take place at Saturday, January 27 at St. Frances de Chantal Church in Throggs Neck.

A memorial from the Throggs Neck Benevolent Association read: Anyone who knew Barbara was enriched by her love, compassion, patience, and kindness. Everyone was welcome at her house and people were always coming and going. There was always a hot pot of coffee going and she was ready to talk to you about everything that was going on in your life.

Author Elaine Pofeldt, a contributing writer for leading business publications, has just released her new book for anyone interested in starting a small business.

The Million-Dollar, One-Person Business: Make Great Money, Work the Way You Like, Have the Life You Want is a straight-forward guide to anyone interested in starting a small business. The book is currently available at Amazon.com and from many fine booksellers.

Pofeldt focuses on entrepreneurial writing. She is the daughter of former Bronx Times staff and freelance photographer Walter Pofeldt.

On The Dean’s List

The University of Connecticut released its Dean’s List for noteworthy undergraduate students for the fall of the 2017-18 Academic Year.

Bronxites Devon Castiello, Kwaku Gyasi, Christina Hamelos and Jabari Weste were recognized for their academic work in the previous semester.

To qualify, students must have registered for at least 12 credits during the semester, received no grade below a ‘C’, earned at least 3.0 as many grade points as the number of calculable credits and be in the upper quartile of the college or school.

Fresh Fruits

And Veggies

Residents of Community Board 9 will have the opportunity to purchase farm fresh fruits and vegetables at low cost as part of the Winter Farm Share Program taking place every Tuesday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Stevenson Family Health Center at 731 White Plains Road.

The program starts on Saturday, January 23 and it will enable residents to purchase receive a bag of fruits and vegetables a week at a discounted price.

Stevenson is hosting the program in collaboration with Corbin Hill Food Project.
