49th Prepares Students For Back To School
Assemblywoman Nathalia Fernandez (3rd from l) and Aleksander Nilaj (back, r), Albanian American Open Hand Association president and 49th Precinct police officers helped students select their perfect backpacks.
The 49th Precinct helped students get ready for their return to the classroom during its second annual Back to School Giveaway on Friday, August 17 inside the precinct house. Co-sponsored by Councilman Mark Gjonaj, Bronx Community Council and Muslims for Humanity, the fun-filled event provided local youth with brand new backpacks and school supplies to ensure a successful academic year.

Deputy inspector Thomas Alps (back, l), 49th Precinct commanding officer, and police officers Sanchez (front, l), Lepore (front, 2nd from l) and Gagliardi (front, c) and Shabbir Ahmed Gul, Bronx Community Council founder and chairman (front, 2nd from r) helped local youth prepare for back to school.
Community and law enforcment leaders helped make students’ return to the classroom an enjoyable experience.
