The bats aren’t all that’s heating up at Yankee Stadium this season.
King’s Hawaiian has teamed up with the Bronx Bombers to present a new, unique food line with the brand’s sweet as could be rolls.
The Yankees held a private taste test debuting the new concession items on Friday, April 6 during the team’s second of a four game series against the Baltimore Orioles.
If you’re headed to the stadium this season be on the lookout for the new:
• Sweet Pineapple BBQ Kalua Pork Sandwich on a King’s Hawaiian Roll – this is the bread and butter of the new menu items, short, very sweet, and to the point.
• Big Island Lava Crispy Chicken Sandwich with Tempura Pickles on a King’s Hawaiian Roll – blending the sweetness of the line’s Hawaiian theme with a spicy, Asian fusion. The fried pickle bridges the bun’s sweet and the chicken’s spicy.
• Kona BBQ Brisket with Macaroni Salad on a King’s Hawaiian hot dog bun – this is a game changer. More than adding unique flavor, the macaroni salad with cheese added gives the brisket a unique flavor that you’ll be wanted much more of.
• Smoked Pork Nachos – these come with quite the twist. In lieu of chips, wontons become the vessel for the smoked pork and sweet and spicy cheese sauce. Again blending Asian and Hawaiian flavor, these nachos have a lighter feel to them than the average ones but pack twice the punch.
Other ballparks favorites will come with King’s Hawaiian rolls as well, even four packs will be sold at the stadium.
Long time Yankees rival and Los Angeles Dodgers legendary first baseman, Steve Garvey returned to the Bronx for the taste test as an ambassador for King’s Hawaiian.
He spoke with those lucky enough to try what’s coming to the menu reminiscing over his playing days and about how much the game of baseball has changed.
He explained that most home runs are hit to right field because today’s stadiums are built from south to north and that’s the direction that the wind tends to blow the most.
Garvey also talked about how much concessions play into the experience of ‘being at the ball game,’ the pork sandwhich is his favorite on the line.
King’s Hawaiian began expanding into professional baseball a little closer to Garvey’s southern California home with the Dodgers some years ago.
Their next stop of course was the house that Ruth built, the King’s Hawaiian grill can be found at sections 115 and 334 at the stadium.

After taking the winter to experiment around with the Hawaiian barbeque flavor theme, almost all of his concoctions had made the cut to be sold during the season.
Even though the Yankees fell to the Orioles 7 to 3 in 14 innings, some fans left Yankee Stadium feeling satisfied thanks to King’s Hawaiian.
