City Day of Action on Safety

A ‘City Day of Action’ informed workers of an upcoming Occupational Safety and Health Administration deadline for a mandatory 10-hour training throughout the borough on Friday, February 23.

Mayor de Blasio’s office joined forces with workers in need of the training and community partners including the Workers Justice Project, New Immigrant Community Empowerment, Northern Manhattan Coalition for Immigrant Rights, La Colmena Community Job Center and Catholic Charities to make the city’s Day of Action a success.

The city-wide effort distributed fliers at 16 locations, reaching out to day laborers to educate and empower them with information about the Thursday, March 1 deadline, as well as to stress the importance of the safety training and learning about their rights as workers.
