A 21-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run multi-car accident in Allerton.

Police arrested and charged 21-year-old driver Tanbir Islam with manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident that left five people injured and resulted in one death.

On Thursday, January 5 at 9 p.m., Islam alledgedly drove his 1997 Toyota Camry southbound on Boston Road near Wallace Avenue before crossing into the northbound lanes where he struck a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan.

The impact forced the vehicles into an unoccupied parked Mitsubishi Endeavor.

The three passengers inside the Camry, two 21-year-old men and a 22-year-old man, and the 47-year-old minivan driver were extracted from the wreckage by Emergency Service Units.

The victims were rushed to local hospitals with three listed in critical condition and one in serious, but stable condition.

Christopher Hulse, 21, the backseat passenger inside the Camry, was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.

A pedestrian also sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Police said, Islam alledgedly fled the scene on foot, but was arrested the next morning at Jacobi Medical Center where he sought medical treatment.
