Post Info

There will be no regular post meetings for July and August. The commander and his staff sincerely wish all of you a fun filled and safe summertime. The current address for correspondence to the post is: c/o P.O. 417, TN Station, Bronx, N.Y. 10465.

On sick call we have our sergeant-at-arms, Tony Ferrara, with a back problem. (I say it’s his head!) Please give him a call to say hi or at least give him a hard time.

Joe Mondello completed yet another patriotic lesson at P.S. 14. This, along with volunteering at American Legion College tells me that Joe should have been a teacher, but he’s a bass player at heart. Joe Jazz will be handing out Canteen Coupons at the VA Hospital at is next visit. Any other volunteers out there?

Around The Media

Carl beat me to it, reminding us the late Tim Russert, lawyer, journalist, and host of Meet the Press, was a member of the Sons of the American Legion, Det. Of New York, Post 1830, in memory of his father’s WW 2 service in the Army Air Corp as a parachute rigger (someone in your unit to stay very friendly with).

Also, the discussion continues whether PTSD meets the criteria for the award of the Purple Heart medal. Not surprisingly, a poll of military personnel shows no in the lead, following by maybe, with yes dead last. The American Legion will follow this and other brain trauma disability issues as our troops come home and seek assistance.

Until Next Time

I had a life, but my job ate it.
