A group of high schoolers from the Academy for Language and Technology took an exciting trip to Albany on Wednesday, May 17 inspired by a community civics class taught by Senator Gustavo Rivera earlier this year.
Students spent one-on-one time with the senator who accompanied them on a tour of the State Capitol Building.
The students were able to observe a legislature session of the NYS Senate.
Throughout the trip which was planned in its entirety by these young Bronx residents, they learned about the importance of government and civic participation.
