Police Blotter: NYPD activity filed for the week of March 20

Major crime in the Bronx was up less than 1% for the 28-day-period ending Dec. 3, compared to the same 28-day period last year. Grand larceny auto was flat, with felony assaults up 5.1% across the borough.

-The following are crime reports and arrests filed by the NYPD’s police precincts in the Bronx.

40th Precinct

— On Wednesday, March 15, at approximately 5:45 p.m., a 19-year-old female was on a northbound #6 train heading toward the 138th Street station when an unknown male approached her victim and grabbed her breast. The perpetrator then followed her as she exited the train at the Hunts Point Avenue subway station and boarded a southbound #6 train. When the victim exited the train at the Cypress Avenue Subway Station, the individual continued to follow the victim to her residential building and into the elevator while talking to the victim. The suspect then fled the scene.

The male suspect is described as 5’8”, approximately 180 pounds and believed to be in his 20s. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, light colored pants and white sneakers. 

42nd Precinct

— On Friday, March 10, shortly after 10 p.m., a 24-year-old male was walking in the vicinity of Vyse Avenue and West Farms Road when he was approached by two unknown males. The first male suspect punched the victim in the head, which knocked him to the ground, while the second suspect held the victim down by brandishing a knife. With the victim on the ground, one suspect repeatedly punched and kicked him. The two suspects then took the victim’s back pack and wallet. The individuals left the scene traveling northbound on Vyse Avenue.

 

The victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital and treated for injuries to his face.

44th Precinct

— On Wednesday, March 15, at approximately 9:20 a.m., a 31-year-old female was walking in the vicinity of Jerome Avenue and Clarke Place West when she was approached by an male from behind. The individual grabbed the victim’s buttocks and genital area unsolicited. The suspect then fled southbound on Jerome Avenue. 

The suspect is described as having a dark complexion and roughly 5’5″ with a slim build.

— On Friday, March 10, 7:30 p.m., a 65-year-old male victim was approached by three individuals inside of Claremont Park, located at 1450 Clay Ave. All three male assailants brandished guns and demanded money from the victim. The trio fled out of the park with the victim’s wallet, which contained credit cards and approximately $50 in cash. 

The suspects were last seen wearing dark-colored clothing and face masks.

45th Precinct

— It was reported to police that on Sunday, March 5 at approximately 6:20 p.m., an unknown male was standing hear 2829 Dewey Ave. when he allegedly discharged several rounds from a gun towards a deli located at 460 Quincy Ave. 

A 31-year-old female customer, who was inside the deli, was hit by one of the bullets in the buttocks. The shooter fled the location prior to arrival of police, and the female was transported by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, in stable condition, where she was treated and released.

The male is described as 5’6″ tall and weighing approximately 195 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, grey jacket and blue jeans.

— On Thursday, March 16, at approximately 8:30 p.m., an unknown male individual was walking in the vicinity of Quincy and Dewey avenues when he displayed a firearm and shot one round toward an unknown male walking in the opposite direction. The bullet missed the person but hit a parked vehicle. The suspect then fled eastbound on Quincy Avenue.

The individual was last seen wearing a gray jacket with a black stripe, a gray hoodie and black/white sneakers.

47th Precinct

— On Sunday, March 19, at 11:48 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a male shot at a deli located at 4702 White Plains Road. Upon arrival, officers observed a 24-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the torso. EMS transported the victim to NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. A second victim, a 42-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his right leg, was transported via private means to Montefiore Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation remains ongoing.

48th Precinct

— On Sunday, March 19, at approximately 1:48 p.m., police responded to a 311 call of multiple people shot in front of 610 E. 187 St. Upon arrival, there were no victims observed at the location. But officers discovered two males with gunshots wounds in front of 2371 Hughes Ave. The first victim, a 21 year old, sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest and was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The second victim, a 22 year old, sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks and was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas in stable condition. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.

 

— On Sunday, March 5, at approximately 2 p.m., an unknown male was engaged in a dispute with a small group of people in the vicinity of East Tremont and Bryant avenues when he pulled a gun and shot one round toward the group. The individual then fled into a building on East 179th Street. There were no reported injuries or property damage.

The individual is described as having facial hair, a slim build and believed to be in his 20s or 30s. He was last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, black hoodie, black pants and black sneakers.

50th Precinct

— On Wednesday, March 15, at approximately 7:30 p.m., three unknown individuals approached a 54-year-old female victim in the vicinity of West 260 Street and Tyndall Avenue and placed a metal object against her head. The individuals put the victim on the ground and removed her coat, purse, approximately $300, a cellphone, credit cards and her car keys. The individuals fled by foot northbound on Broadway. 

The first suspect is described as a male, dark complexion, approximately 17-20 years old, slim build, last seen wearing black jeans, a black jacket with the hood up and black and white sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a male, dark complexion, approximately 17-20 years old, last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black and red sneakers.

The third susepct is described as a male, dark complexion, approximately 17-20 years old, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the words “Don’t get emotional its only broken promises.”
